At the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, weekends are for families! The Museum offers special programming for visitors of all ages. These special activities are free with Museum admission. Reservations are not required.

Family Activities

Storytelling Workshops

Every Thursday

Come and join us every Thursday morning, starting November 17, 2011, at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum for our children's storytelling workshops. The little ones will be captivated by stories of aviation and space and will get to use their creativity as they complete the craft activity that follows each book. Every week a new story and craft will be offered.

The workshops will run from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in English and from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in French. Participation is free for members and is no extra charge for the general public with the price of admission.

Movies at the Museum

Every Saturday

Come to the Museum on Saturdays to watch some wonderful family films in our main Theatre. The movies are free with the price of Museum admission and will entertain both young and old alike! Movie listings are shown below along with the dates and times.

General Guided Tour

Discover the Canada Aviation and Space Museum’s superb collection. Follow the Walkway of Time and learn more about the story of our beautiful flying machines. Guided tours of the Museum begin under the Silver Dart, near the main entrance.

Storage Wing Guided Tours ($)

11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Want to see more of Canada’s aviation icons? Tour our storage facility, which houses a large portion of our world-renowned aircraft collection. For safety reasons, each tour can accommodate only 15 people at a time on a first-come, first-served basis.

Discovery Cart

From 2 to 4:30 p.m.

With a travel cart full of various items from the past, including uniforms worn in the last century, our guide will share stories of famous aviators and explain the various types of gear they wore when flying aircraft on display in the Museum.

Bits and Pieces

Saturdays at 11 a.m.—Ages 5 to 10

Join this interactive tour and learn about some of our famous flying icons and about Canada’s collaboration in the assembly of the International Space Station.

Planes, Packs and Fun!

Saturdays at 2 p.m.—Ages 5 to 10

Go on a special backpacking adventure through the Museum. Explore various aircraft in our collection, take part in discovery-type hands-on activities, try on pilots’ uniforms, build and test paper airplanes, and sit in the cockpit of a Canadair CT-114 Tutor.

Earn Your Deck Landing Stickers

Sundays at 11 a.m.—Ages 5 to 10

Collect navy aircraft stickers and learn about their aircraft carriers as you follow our friendly guide on this fun, interactive tour.

The Mail Must Fly!

Sundays at 2 p.m.—Ages 4 to 7

Help deliver mail throughout the Museum, and discover the aircraft involved in airmail delivery.

Hang Glider Studio

Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—Families with young children

This special activity area is the perfect place for parents and younger children to enjoy creative crafts, LEGO®, puzzles, puppets, and more. And children of all ages are sure to enjoy our featured craft activity!

Ejection Seat Demonstrations

Learn how an ejection seat can save a pilot’s life. Have a blast while listening to our enthusiastic guides as they describe the ups and downs of ejecting from a fighter jet! Sit in an authentic ejection seat and learn how pilots use this essential piece of equipment.

Cessna 150 Interpretation Centre

Want the experience of flight but prefer to keep your feet on the ground? Here is your chance to sit at the controls of an aircraft without taking off! You can meet our friendly and knowledgeable staff who will assist you in boarding our Cessna 150 aircraft, and answer any questions you may have.
