The Central Band of the Canadian Forces and the Governor General's Foot Guards Band – We Will Remember

Don't miss this opportunity to attend a joint performance of two of Canada's foremost military bands. Through this special collaboration, they will honour Canada's veterans as well as its military personnel in active service.

Many people remember and capture moments in history by collecting and preserving special objects from the past. Meet several collectors as they share stories about pieces from their private collections.

Sue Warren – Caring for your Collection
Have you ever wondered how to best preserve your old photographs or other precious items in your private collection? The Museum's conservation expert, Sue Warren, will be on hand to share a few tips and answer questions.

Keynote Speaker – in the Main Theatre (English only)
Jack Ford – Second World War RCAF photographer
Join us as Jack Ford shares some of the photographs taken when he served with 414 Squadron, which carried out photo reconnaissance, intelligence and ground attacks during the Dieppe Raid and the Allied Invasion of Europe. Hear about exciting air battles, and about his photographic encounters with General Montgomery, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and King George VI. In collaboration with the Sunnybrook Veteran's Hospital.

Andrew Cadzow – For History and Honour
Andrew has been purchasing war medals from auction houses and dealers both in Canada and abroad for many years. He researches them, tracing their history and origins, and then donates them to military museums and their home regiments. Over the years, he has been able to return over 100 medals from 38 Canadian soldiers to 26 different institutions! Meet Andrew and hear about his current projects.

Kelly M. Smith – Captain Roger Lovewell Smith: A Lifetime in the Clouds

Inspired as a boy by an article about Charles Lindbergh, by age 19 Roger Lovewell Smith had become Canada's youngest commercial pilot. As his son Kelly recounts, Smith's career took him from barnstorming, to bush flying, to wartime service, to Trans-Canada Air Lines—and a transatlantic speed record in 1961. By the time he retired in 1971, he had accumulated 24,000 flying hours and over 1,000 transatlantic crossings.

Christina Dodkin – Could your collectible be radioactive?

Meet Christina, a radiation protection specialist with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, at her special presentation on historic consumer and military artifacts manufactured using a radioactive glow-in-the-dark paint: What they are, and how to identify, safely handle and dispose of them.

Enjoy this special performance by more than 40 talented young concert artists from the OCC's Chamber Choir, featuring a selection of special songs to mark Remembrance Day.
